Fenton Fitzwilliam strengthens UK leadership with two senior appointments
Fenton Fitzwilliam, the specialist advisory firm, has appointed Gary Follis as Senior Adviser and Hamish Docherty as Director, further strengthening its senior leadership team.
The appointments follow the recent announcement of Natalie Buxton as UK Managing Director and underline Fenton Fitzwilliam's ambition to build a best-in-class advisory capability serving organisations operating in complex and highly regulated sectors.
Moray Macdonald, CEO, said: "Gary and Hamish are exactly the kind of senior advisers we want to build Fenton Fitzwilliam around. Gary's political relationships and regulatory track record are genuinely rare, and Hamish brings real depth in energy and infrastructure, sectors that sit at the heart of what we do. Together they will make an immediate difference to our clients and to the calibre of our UK team."
Hamish Docherty, Director
Hamish joins from Weber Shandwick, where he was most recently Director and a member of the senior leadership team. Before that, he spent five years at Teneo, where he worked with some of the world's largest and most high-profile companies on corporate affairs, strategic communications and crisis management. Most recently, at Weber Shandwick, he led a number of the firm’s key accounts, specialising in advising energy and infrastructure clients, including those operating in nuclear, offshore wind, oil & gas and heat network sectors.
With over a decade of experience advising C-suite leaders in highly regulated and scrutinised sectors, Hamish will be focused on building Fenton Fitzwilliam’s capabilities for companies sitting at the heart of the energy transition and AI revolution.
Gary Follis, Senior Adviser
Gary joins Fenton Fitzwilliam from the Betting and Gaming Council, where he served as Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, leading engagement with ministers, regulators and political stakeholders. Prior to that, he held senior advisory roles at the heart of government, including as Chief of Staff to Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls and as a Special Adviser under Gordon Brown, giving him deep insight into how government works at the highest level. He has also held senior public affairs positions at Nationwide and Santander.
His appointment significantly enhances the firm's political and regulatory advisory capability at a time when clients across Fenton Fitzwilliam's core sectors energy, defence, telecoms, infrastructure and pharmaceuticals, are navigating an increasingly demanding policy environment.
